Harness Horse Racing

Harness racing of horses was very popular during the Roman Empire but after the Empire collapsed harness racing virtually disappeared until it became popular again in the US in the 1700's. The first known harness race tracks in the US appeared in the early 1800's. After another decline in popularity in the early 1900's, harness racing bounced back in the 1940's.
