The road to the 2020 Kentucky Derby is getting closer and more exciting as Derby trails have started to roll out this month. Four Kentucky Derby prep races were done, and horses who made it will earn a sure entry in the Run For The Roses. Meanwhile, other hopefuls continue to hustle as there are still a lot of prep races in line to help them get the chance to compete in the Derby.

In earlier reports, around 347 entries bid to run in the 146th renewal of the Kentucky Derby. Since the Derby is a race of all three-year-old colts, the horse racing fans can expect new entries that will saddle up in the dirt track of Churchill Downs, Kentucky. Some veteran racers are also expected to join the rest.

One of the seasoned horse trainers has sent the most number of entries for the Kentucky Derby and the Triple Crown racers is Todd Pletcher. He has been working hard in hopes of bagging another title this year. In fact, his horses are among the strong Kentucky Derby bets with high odds of winning the Triple Crown title this year.

As you search for the best entries to bet for the 2020 Kentucky Derby, let’s get to know more of Pletcher’s horses to consider in the Kentucky Derby wagering games. Let’s see if these horse athletes can come up with a stronger form to win this year.

Gouverneur Morris

Pletcher has recently announced the entry of Gouverneur Morris for the 2020 Kentucky Derby. Initially, he didn’t plan to bid for Morris in the Triple Crown races. However, as the Derby date comes near, he immediately sent this horse to training along with John R. Velazques, who is his jockey.

This horse racer has accomplished two horse racing games in the past. He first took part in the Maiden Special last September 2, 2019, at Saratoga, where he won first place. After that, he competed in the Claiborne Breeders’ Futurity and earned second place. As he heads on to the Derby, Pletcher is counting on Morris to clinch the Derby crown.

Chase Tracker

Pletcher’s second entry to the 2020 Kentucky Derby is Chase Tracker. This colt was bred last April 11, 2017, and accomplished three racing starts since last year. He’s owned by St. Elias Stable, and his jockey is Javier Castellano. Throughout his career, Chase Tracker successfully earned $93, 000 which is already a huge record.

Chase Tracker competed first in Maiden Special Weight last September 21, 2019, at Parx Racing, which he won the title. After that, he headed on to the Nashua Stakes last November 3, 2019, at Aqueduct and earned third place. His last racing event was on December 7, 2019, still at Aqueduct during the Remsen Stakes, where he also finished third.

Portos

Pletcher also sent Portos to compete in the 2020 Kentucky Derby and Triple Crown races. This horse racer is bred by Wertheimer and Frere and ridden by his jockey, Jose Lezcano. He had accomplished five racing shows since last year and tallied total earnings of $93,900.

Portos underwent rigorous training to compete in Maiden Special Weight races, but his first three attempts were unsuccessful. Although he wasn’t able to make it in his initial tries, he continued to saddle up until last December 13, 2019, and won first place in the Maiden Special Weight that took place at Aqueduct. In the same venue, he competed in the Withers Stakes last February 1, 2020, where he landed in third place.

Market Analysis

Market Analysis is the last entry of Todd Pletcher to the 2020 Kentucky Derby. This horse racer was bred last February 6, 2017, and owned by China Horse Club and WinStar Family, LLC. His jockey is John R. Velasquez.

Besides, the Kentucky Derby is his first stakes race event after he won the Maiden Special Weight last January 25, 2020, at Gulfstream Park. Pletcher is hoping that Market Analysis will win the Derby title in his first try.

Takeaway

The Kentucky Derby this year just got more exciting as the horse racing fans are looking forward to a wider betting game. Remember that last year, the Derby had quite a controversial ending because of the winner’s disqualification case. For this reason, the organizers want to make the racing series this year more exciting, unforgettable, and hopefully, free from drama.

This year, a lot of fresh horses are starting to complete the betting line-up for the Kentucky Derby. As Todd Pletcher sends out four horses to run on May 2, 2020, at Churchill Downs, can one of them win the Derby crown this year? Let’s wait and see.
